B.E.2c 2720 at Beverley aerodrome.

On the night of 5th / 6th April 1916 Zeppelin L.11 attacked the Hull area. It came in over the Hornsea area at around 21.00hrs, bombed the Hull area and eventually headed back out to sea at Aldborough at 21.50hrs before heading north and bombing the Skinningrove area. RAF BE2c 2720 of 47 Squadron, RFC, based at Beverley, was one of the aircraft that was sent up to patrol the Humber area in search of the L.11. On the return to land at Beverley aerodrome at around 22.00hrs the pilot found that there was a problem with the throttle control and he could not reduce power to the engine. He made a fast landing at Beverley and the aircraft received some damage.
