B.E.2c 2661 at Beverley aerodrome.

On the night of 2nd / 3rd September 1916 some sixteen airships set off with the intention of bombing London. L.22 appears to have either had other orders or had drifted off course significantly, it crossed the Lincolnshire coast at Skegness and head north across Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. A B.E.2c was sent up from 33 (HD) Squadron, RFC based at Beverley but crashed during the night take off at Beverley aerodrome for an anti-Zeppelin patrol; almost certainly in search of L.22. It subsequently dropped a few bombs into fields at Flinton, then crossed the coast heading east at Aldborough.
