Unidentified B.E.2c at Beverley aerodrome.

Historian Graham Sharpe has passed me basic details that on the night of 1st / 2nd April 1916 a 47 Squadron RAF BE2c suffered engine failure on take off from Beverley aerodrome to intercept approaching Zeppelins. The aircraft received damage.

Pilot - Name unknown.

Zeppelin L.17 was the approaching airship and this approached the Flamborough Head area at 21.00hrs on 1st April 1916 but suffered mechanical problems while out to sea, it later ditched it's bombs over the sea and returned to base. The L.11 bombed the Sunderland area at around 23.00hrs and then headed back out to sea. It then came inland again over the Teesside area and released bombs before going back out to sea in the Skinningrove area.
