Caudron G.III 3868 at Scarborough.

On 26th September 1915 this aeroplane was force-landed near RNAS Scarborough aerodrome whilst on a transit flight from RNAS Atwick. It was probably transitting between the two Home Defence Flight aerodromes at the time of the mishap.

Caudron G.III 3868 was built by Beardmore & Co, at Dalmuir and was delivered to RNAS Redcar in June 1915 where it probably served with the RNAS Home Defence Flight. It was swiftly repaired on site at Redcar following the incident on 5th July 1915 and was transferred to RNAS Scarborough Home Defence Flight on 18th July 1915. It then moved to RNAS Atwick Home Defence Flight on 26th July 1915 but then moved back to RNAS Scarborough Home Defence Flight on 26th September 1915 though force landed on the transit flight from Atwick. It was once again repaired on site, returned to service and served at RNAS Atwick Home Defence Flight but was damaged again there on 26th October 1915. It was finally deleted from stock on 20th December 1915.
