Unidentified aeroplane near Newby.

On Satuday, 9th January 1937 this aeroplane was being flown to the Teesside area when the pilot became lost in poor weather in the Scarborough area. The destination of Redcar was given in a press report I have located. The pilot force landed his aircraft in a field alongside Hackness Road, Newby. Neither machine or pilot was damaged. On landing the pilot went to a nearby farm and telephoned his airfield to tell them what had happened. The airfield sent out another aircraft which found him and his aircraft, this second aircraft landed in the same field. Later in the afternoon both aircraft took off and finished the journey without other incident.

Pilot - Name unknown.
