Hols-der-Teufel I BGA.252 glider near Sutton Bank.
Despite wintery conditions some short glider flights were made from the gliding site at Sutton Bank on 5th April 1936 as part of a meeting of Yorkshire Gliding Club members. During a short flight the Hols I glider came to rest in a pond, presumably on land below the gliding site but exactly where is unclear.
Pilot - Mr Clarence W Jowett.
This glider was originally built and registered on the UK glider register as BGA.127(2) and was written off on 13th October 1935. The wreck was rebuilt by Fred Slingsby and delivered to the Yorkshire Gliding Club on 8th March 1936. It was first flown on 15th March 1936. It appears to have been a glider built by using salvaged parts from BGA.127(2) and new sections to build what became BGA.252.
