Stedman TS-1 BGA.123 "City of Leeds" glider at Sutton Bank.

Between Saturday, 24th August 1935 and Sunday, 1st September 1935 a national gliding competition was held at the Sutton Bank gliding site, the home of the Yorkshire Gliding Club. On 1st September 1935 Rex Stedman was giving a series of passenger flights to those still at the event on the final day. On one flight it launched from Sutton Bank at 15.22hrs, two minutes later during the landing members of the public crossed in front of the approaching glider forcing the pilot to take evasive action to avoid a collision. Unfortunately in turning the glider away it ran into a ditch sustaining damage.
