Reynard R.4 primary BGA.166 glider believed damaged at Sutton Bank gliding site.
Historian Graham Sharpe has given me basic details of this incident. Believed to have been in late-1934 the Bradford and County Gliding Club's Reynard primary glider sustained some form of flying accident that saw it be declared beyond repair at Sutton Bank. The date of the incident and any background information has yet to be found.
Pilot - Name unknown.
This Reynard R.4 Primary (4/5) was registered by the British Gliding Association as BGA.166 having been built by Reynard at Leicester. It was first registered to Leeds Gliding Club on 2nd January 1931 and first flew a month later. Leeds Gliding Club amalgamated and became Bradford and District Gliding Club on 26th October 1931, then became known as Bradford and County Gliding Club in 1932. Following the undated incident in late-1934 the glide was written off and withdrawn from use.
