On 11th September 1918 high winds were present over the North-East coast, the pilot of this aeroplane force landed near Ravenscar railway station because of the winds but it was damaged. The pilot escaped injury. They were part of 505 Flight, 251 Squadron, based at West Ayton.

Airco DH.6 B2874 was built by Airco for the RFC but does not appear to have seen any service with the RFC. It transferred to the RAF when it formed in April 1918. It was with M.A.D. at South Shields prior to being transferred to 505 Flight, 251 Squadron, based at West Ayton, on 5th September 1918. Following the accident at Ravenscar on 11th September 1918 it was not repaired and was written off.
