Unidentified Slingsby T-4 Falcon III glider at Sutton Bank.

Over the weekend of 25th / 26th April 1936 the Yorkshire Gliding Club held a flying meeting at their Sutton Bank site. Strong westerly winds aided the flying greatly and some good flights were made. Fred Slingsby appears to have taken the Slingsby Sailplanes' Falcon III glider for use by club members. The Slingsby Falcon III was a two-seater glider but appears to have only had the pilot on board when he landed too near the hanger and ended up flying into a thorn bush.

By this date only four T-4 Falcon III's officially existed. BGA.211 and also BGA.237 belonged to C.Espin Hardwick of the Midland Gliding Club. BGA.241 belonged to the Ulster Gliding Club and BGA.244 belonged to the London Gliding Club. This damaged one may have been an unregistered Falcon awaiting an owner so was brought to Sutton Bank by Fred Slingsby.

Pilot - Mr John Charles Stuart Wortley Neilan.
