Slingsby T.6 Kirby Kite at Sutton Bank.
On 25th February 1939 Fred Slingsby's Kirby Kite was being flown by one of his employees on the Yorkshire Gliding Club's Sutton Bank site when he misjudged the approach to land. The glider became caught in a down draft and a wing touched the ground when it was travelled at speed. The glider came to rest badly damaged. It was an unregistered glider at the time of this mishap.
