B.E.2c 1119 probably in the Staintondale area.

This B.E.2c was force-landed some eight miles north of Scarborough on 9th January 1916 while on a flight with the Home Defence Flight, the aeroplane was badly damaged but returned to service after repair. The exact location of where this incident occurred is not known but if the distance is correct then it was would put that landing as being in the Staintondale area.

B.E.2c 1119 was delivered from the manufacturers Beardmore and Co. at Dalmuir to RNAS Redcar on 15th September 1915 and was used by the Home Defence Flight to be used on Anti-Zeppelin patrols. Home Defence Flight aeroplanes tended to be moved up and down the the coast where and when needed. It suffered damage in a crash landing at Whitley Bay on 24th September 1915 and was repaired and returned to Redcar. On 9th January 1916 it was damaged in the crash between Scarborough and Whitby which saw it again repaired. It was later used at RNAS Whitley Bay before being transferred back to RNAS Redcar on 1st July 1916 where it saw out its service before being deleted from stock on 4th May 1917.
