Glaser-Dirks DG-101G Elan BGA.3202 near Sutton Bank.

On 16th August 1987 this glider was involved in a mid-air collision with glider BGA.1984 near the Sutton Bank gliding site when they were both landing towards a setting sun. Both gliders crashed and both are said to have crashed onto a road, sadly both pilots were killed. This glider caught fire on impact due to an oxygen bottle exloding.

Pilot - Mr Alistair Corr Sheridan, aged 35. Cremated Wilford Hill Crematorium, Nottingham.

This pilot worked for British Midland Airways as a jet pilot and lived at Wysall, Nottinghamshire. He is named as Sydney Allister Sheridan on the death index.
