Glaser-Dirks DG-101G BGA.2826 at Sutton Bank.
At 15.55hrs on 19th August 1985 this glider was winch launched at Sutton Bank. After the pilot released the cable he lowered the nose but at the same time the cable with its small inflated parachute struck the starboard wing and appears to have become caught on it. The glider was dragged to the right, lost height and went below the gliding site taking with it the cable that was jammed in an aileron slot. It went on to crash into trees below the gliding site with the cable attached. The winch operator had noticed that the cable parachute went over the wing and immediately cut the cable at his end. In the 1984-85 British Soaring Handbook this glider is listed as registered to S.Bohlmann, of Aboyne, Scotland.
