Schempp-Hirth Janus BGA-2359 glider near Sutton Bank.

On 17th August 2003 during a competition flight the pilot of this glider found himself flying lower than the Sutton bank airstrip when ridge-soaring, the pilot opted to make a hurried landing in a field but a stall occurred and the glider dived into a field four miles from Sutton Bank. The exact location of this incident is not known.

Pilot - Name unknown, seriously injured.

Passenger - Name unknown, seriously injured.


This glider must have been repaired, it was later registered as G-DDTC and is still a airworthy glider based at Darlton Gliding Club, Newark.
