Slingsby T.45 Swallow BGA.1008 near Thirlby.

On Wednesday, 31st August 1988, midway through the British National Vintage Glider Rally at Sutton Bank, this glider was launched and was flown up-wind of the Sutton Bank gliding site. The pilot was unable to reach Sutton Bank on his return to the area to land so had to make a landing in a field north of Lake Gormire, near the village of Thirlby. After which several bullocks attacked the glider and damaged it. The aircraft was registered to Mr Wiltshire and he is listed as being the pilot in the Vintage Glider Club magazine report on the incident.
