On 20th June 1944 at 18.30hrs a "Tiger Moth single seater" is recorded in police records as crashing near Ings Farm, Easington towards the north-east side of the North Yorkshire Moors. The pilot was said to be unhurt, but the aircraft was recorded as being damaged. The identity of the aircraft and it's unit are not yet known. It possibly belonged to 4 E.F.T.S. which was the training unit based at Brough but as yet no evidence to confirm this has been found. I did not locate an AM Form 1180 for the incident when searching the microfilms at the RAF Museum.
Pilot - F/Lt Lofthouse. Uninjured.
