Sgt Timothy I'Anson Dee RAFVR (1459666).

Timothy I'Anson Dee was born on 26th June 1923 in the Glanford Brigg district of Lincolnshire. He was the son of Ernest and Annie (nee I'Anson) Dee, of Croxton Grange, Lincolnshire, where his father was a farmer. The family was still living at the same farm when the 1939 Register was compiled though Timothy's name is currently redacted. His older brothers were both working on the family farm so it is reasonable to assume that he was also. When he enlisted for RAF service is not yet known. Little is known about his life before he enlisted. he trained as a navigator and after completing his training was posted to 408 Squadron with the rest of his crew in September 1943. He was killed as a result of the accident to Lancaster DS737 on 16th December 1943, he was twenty years old.

Timothy Dee's body was buried by private family arrangements in the small churchyard in Croxton, North Lincolnshire. His parents also paid for a memorial stained glass window in the church and for a small plaque to be placed near it in 1946. I visited the church in April 2005 but the church was locked so I was unable to photograph it for inclusion on this website. Should anyone local and with access to the church be able to photograph this memorial I would love to be able to show a photograph on this webpage.
