F/Sgt Joseph Omer Emile Jules Boily RCAF (R/96901).

Joseph Boily was born on 31st December 1921 to Philippe A P and Albina (nee Girard) Boily of Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. As a young man he attended schools and then university in Quebec. He was still a student when he enlisted for RCAF service on 23rd September 1941 in Quebec initially undertaking basic pilot training but failed the assessment so re-mustered as an air gunner. He was awarded his Air Gunner's badge on 5th March 1943 following training in Canada. After this basic training he was posted overseas in March 1943 to continue his training. Upon arrival in England he trained at 23 OTU beginning 20th April 1943 and later with 1664 HCU at Croft on 3rd July 1943. He was posted to 408 Squadron on 25th July 1943.

It is believed that he was in the position of rear gunner in the Clark crew. He was twenty one years old when he died as a result of the crash of Lancester DS737 on 16th December 1943.

Joseph Boily was buried at Harrogate Stonefall Cemetery, Yorkshire.
