On 12th December 1952 this 205 Advanced Flying School aircraft was flown on a training exercise but soon after taking off from Middleton St.George airfield the aircraft lost height and flew into ground. The aircraft disintergrated around a mile southeast of Low Worsall and fuel ignited. The pilot was killed. Exactly where this crash occurred is unclear. More modern accounts documenting this incident put it as being at High Worsall. Reading all the source information I have found I would suggest it crashed in fields off Forest Lane, and between Worsall Grange and Low Forest Farm. Newspaper reports state the crash was witnessed by Dame Evelyn Winnifred Blake, she was at home and she lived at Saltergill. It therefore cannot have been at High Worsall.
Pilot - P/O David Archibald Cox RAF (4073897), aged 21. Buried Caputh Kirkyard, Perth.
