Meteor F.8 WE854 at Church Fenton airfield.

On 10th January 1952 this 19 Squadron aircraft flew into slipstream of another aircraft that was overshooting a landing at Church Fenton airfield. The pilot of this Meteor lost control and it struck a vehicle and the runway controller's caravan then crashed further down the airfield. A member of ground staff who was standing near the air traffic control caravan was struck and killed, while an air traffic controller who was in the caravan at the time had both his legs broken. The pilot appears to have escaped serious injury.
