At 02.00hrs on Thursday, 31st July 1952 this No.14 Advanced Flying Training School aircraft took off from Holme on Spalding Moor airfield with the pilot briefed to undertake a night training exercise. Around an hour later the pilot was making an approach to land at the airfield and while flying low the pilot attempted to make a turn but lost control. The aircraft then crashed on farm land near South Farm, South Cliffe, a few miles east of the airfield killing the pilot. At the inquest it was stated that the left wing struck the ground first during the turn, followed by the nose and then the right wing tip (which suggests it cartwheeled) and it then passed through a hedge.
Pilot - Acting P/O David Walter Nodder RAF (2527525), aged 19. Cremated Scholemoor Crematorium, Bradford, Yorkshire.
