During the morning of Saturday, 20th January 1951 this No.203 Advanced Flying School aircraft took off from Driffield airfield at around 07.55hrs for a high altitude flight. At around 08.30hrs the aircraft overflew Dishforth airfield at around 500 to 600 feet above the ground and slowly decending. Once beyond the airfield it continued to descend and began a steep turn to starboard at around 300 feet above the ground. During the turn the aircraft dived into the ground between Cundall and Norton le Clay. The pilot was killed and the aircraft was destroyed.
