On 14th November 1951 this No.228 Operational Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on a night training exercise. At the time of creating this webpage little is known about the evebtual accident other than it was seen to fly over it's home airfield at Leeming at around 1000 feet above the ground. The crew asked for Very lights to be fired and a short time later while flying very low in the circuit of the airfield on the eastern side of the River Swale it struck trees. It then crashed a short time later into a stubble, believed to have been in the general area of Far Fairholme / Fairholme Farm, south of Morton on Swale and both the crew were killed.
