Tiger Moth T6464 near Chew Reservoir, Peak District.

This aircraft was on chagre with No.24 Elementary Flying Training School (E.F.T.S.). On 12th April 1945 this aircraft took off from Sealand airfield to undertake a day time cross country navigation exercise. During the flight the aircraft entered cloud while flying over the Peak District, around ninety minutes after taking off the aircraft crashed onto a hillside near Chew Reservoir and the pilot was sadly killed. This accident occurred just on the Yorkshire side of the border.
