Halifax MZ402 damaged in the air, landed at Driffield airfield.
On 6th October 1944 the crew of this 466 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb Sterkrade and took off from Driffield airfield at 14.32hrs. The crew released their
bomb load onto the target area from 17,000 feet at 17.16hrs. While over the target area the aircraft was damaged by flak which killed the rear gunner. Despite the damage the aircraft
returned to Driffield and landed at 18.56hrs.
