On the night of 30th/31st May 1942 this aircraft had undertaken Ops to Cologne when it was hit by flak in one of the engines while over the target, the pilot was able to make the return to land at base of Pocklington on the three good engines and no further damage was sustained. The identity of the aircraft is not yet known.
Pilot - F/Sgt Robert B Albright RCAF (J/15590), aged 26, of Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada. Uninjured.
Crew - Names unknown, uninjured.
Robert Albright was sadly killed on 24th July 1942 when Halifax W7769 crashed into New Street, Pocklington. He was buried in Barmby on the Moor Churchyard. It is likely that his crew on that occasion were the same as involved in the flak incident recorded above.
