Tiger Moth BB755 at Bellasize landing ground.
On 21st June 1941 this 4 E.F.T.S. aircraft was being flown on a training flight with the pilot briefed to undertake a general flying practice but also with permission to make forced landing approaches on the Bellasize relief landing ground. While making a pass of the landing site at low height and into the wind the aircraft stalled. While the pilot attempted to apply power to the enginer and regain control the right wing dropped, he managed to clear a fence and road but crashed into a ditch at the opposite side of the field and overturned.

This aircraft was built by The De Havilland Aircraft Co. Ltd. at Hatfield and was initially registered to them on completion onto the
civilian register as G-ADXE on 13th November 1935. The aircraft was operated by The D.H. Aircraft Co. Ltd. under the guise of 13 E&RFTS
from 18th November 1935 and flying out of White Waltham. On 3rd September 1939 this unit was re-designated as 13 EFTS but was still
operated by D.H. On 13th October 1940 it was impressed into RAF service and given the serial BB755. On 9th January 1941 it was transferred
to 4 EFTS at Brough and as a result of the mishap detailed briefly above on 21st June 1941 Cat.B/FA damage was recorded. It was then
transported by road to Taylorcraft Ltd. at Rearsby for repair. On 9th August 1941 it was taken on charge by 17 EFTS at Peterborough then
on 26th May 1942 it transferred to the care of 15 EFTS at Carlisle (Kingstown). On 13th January 1943 It crashed and Cat.E2/FA damage was
recorded following an accident when it was taking off from Burnfoot landing ground, the aircraft was struck by Tiger Moth T6499, which
had overshot it's landing. Both aircraft became locked together at fifty feet in the air and crashed. No fatalities are believed to have occurred.
