On the 13th of August 1941 this aircraft was hit by flak on Ops to Berlin and then shot at
by a night fighter which injured two of the crew. The pilot was able to make a crash landing
back at Pocklington airfield. The identity of the aircraft is not yet known but it is believed to have been repaired.

2nd Pilot - Sgt George J Masse RCAF (R/56128), of Central Falls, Rhode Island, USA. Injured by enemy.
Rear Gunner - Sgt Pullen, injured by enemy.
F/Sgt Masse killed 17th January 1942 flying in 405 Squadron Wellington Z8329 which crashed into the North Sea returning early from
Ops to Bremen. He is commemerated on the Runnymede Memorial and was aged 23.
