Avro 504 D6319 at Eastburn aerodrome.

At 11.35hrs on 21st August 1918 this 21 Training Depot Station aeroplane was stationary at Eastburn aerodrome when a previously warmed engine started unexpectedly when the propeller was moved by mechanic. The engine fired and the mechanic was struck and killed. It was found that while the engine start switches were in the off position, a short circuit on a magneto switch in the cockpit may have caused an already warm engine to start when the propeller was turned. This aeroplane would later crash on 3rd September 1918 following a midair collision. Eastburn was the original name to the aerodrome at Driffield.
