Avro 504 C698 (probably) near Tadcaster aerodrome.

On Monday, 10th June 1918 the pilot of this No.14 Training Squadron aeroplane was flying only his second solo flight in the general area of Tadcaster aerodrome when the engine began to fail. He made a left hand turn just seventy feet from the ground, possibly to line up with the aerodrome, when the aeroplane stalled and it crashed at 19.00hrs. The accident killed the pilot. The crash was probably close to the aerodrome with his death being registered in the Wetherby district so was probably toward the north or west side of the site, the south and east side falls within the Tadcaster district.
