Unidentified aeroplane incident near Bubwith.

On 22nd August 1918 what would have been a Royal Air Force aeroplane was being flown over the Bubwith area when the pilot was compelled to land in the Bubwith Ings area. A large crowd gathered around the aeroplane. When the pilot attempted to take off a member of the public got too close to the aeroplane and the propeller struck her on the head resulting in her being killed.

Civilian - Mrs Annie Britton, aged 74. Widow. Burial location unknown.
