On 13th May 1917 this No.68 Reserve Squadron, Royal Flying Corps aeroplane was being flown on the pilot's first solo flight when he lost control and it dived into the ground near the aerodrome at Bramham Moor. The pilot was killed.

Arthur Merchant was the son of John and Ellen Merchant, of Putney, London.
