Curtiss JN-3 A3280 at Hull.

On 30th April 1917 this No.36 Reserve Squadron, Royal Flying Corps was on a flight from Beverley aerodrome that took the pilot over Hull. At around 10.40hrs the aeroplane spun while flying in a cloud and dived into an area of allotments off Perth Street, Hull killing the pilot. A witness to the incident later stated that the aeroplane "struck the earth in the centre of the allotments upon the south side near the cemetery". Two grave diggers saw the crash and having ran over to the site, pulled the airmen from the wreckage and while he was still alive he died soon after. The crash site was probably in the allotments on the north side of Perth Street West.
