Halifax at Y.A.R.D. at Clifton/Rawcliffe airfield.
On 6th June 1945 an apprentice electrician was found dead inside a Halifax he had been working on
at the York Aircraft Repair Depot on Water Lane, York. He was discovered by a fellow electrical
apprentice Edwin Coates. The reasons surrounding his death are not yet known. It is not thought
that he died as a result of any form of crash, but probably due to being overcome with fumes
or something of the like.
Apprentice electrician - Mr George Simpson, aged 14, of York. Died.
