Maurice Foster passed out of Cranwell and was appointed to a permanent commission as P/O on 1st August 1951. He was promoted to the rank of F/O on 1st August 1952 (with seniority back dated to 1st August 1951) and to F/Lt on 1st February 1954. He rose to S/Ldr on an unknown date and then rose again to W/Co on 1st July 1971. He retired from the RAF in the early 1980's but was awarded the OBE on 31st December 1984. He then re-joined and served in the RAFVR (Training Branch) taking a rank of F/O, he was still serving in the RAFVR at least until 1993 when he extended his service to November of that year. Undoubtably this gentleman devoted the much of his life to the service of his Country.
