Halifax MZ601 at East Moor airfield.
On 24th May 1944 the crew in this aircraft were undertaking an air gunnery training exercise when damage was sustained
to tail plane. Its own mid-upper gunner had shot away part of the tail during the exercise. The pilot was able to return
to East Moor and make a landing and the aircraft was later assessed and repaired. The names of the those in the aircraft
are not yet known.

Halifax MZ601 was built to contract ACFT /2533 by E.E.C. Ltd at Salmesbury and delivered directly to 432 Squadron
on 25th April 1944. Following this incident it was repaired on site, completed by 27th May 1944. It was later recorded as being
Cat.E(m) on 12th June 1944 when it failed to return from Ops to Cambrai when it crashed near Dunkirk with six being killed, one made PoW and
one evaded capture. MZ601 completed ten operational flights with 432 Squadron being lost on it's eleventh.
