Unknown aircraft in or near Brompton Dale.

At the time of writing the only mention to this incident occuring was found in "A Tale of Two Villages", a history of Brompton and Sawdon. It states that "on one occasion a plane bringing a visiting General came down in a shower of sparks in Brompton Dale after making a number of passes to clear cattle and severing an electrical cable. The two-man crew survived". I presume the visiting General was paying nearby Wydale Hall a visit used by the military during the War. Nothing further is known but the probably aircraft involved was a Lysander.

Pilot - Unknown, ok.

Passenger - Unknown, ok.

There is a slight possibilty that this incident refers also to the Whitley which force landed at Brompton in September 1940 although this occured south of Brompton where as this landing detailed above is actually north of Brompton.
