Piper Aztec G-BBEY at Thirkleby Hall, Thirsk.
At 12.40hrs on 29th June 2006 this twin engined aircraft crashed soon after taking off from Bagby
airstrip killing the pilot. The pilot was trying to return to Bagby after noticing a fault but the
aircraft crashed into a field close to the A19. A corroded fuel pipe which in turn triggered a fuel
blockage was later found to have caused the crash.
Pilot - Mr Frank Walker, aged 64, of Silsden, West Yorkshire. Killed.
The aircraft was built in 1973 and had been previously registered as LN-FOE. It was first registered in the UK on 13th February 1987.
