Blackburn B2 G-ACLD at Clifton airfield.

Blackburn B2 G-ACLD My thanks to Mr Jim Rudland for this photograph.

The civilian aircraft was taking part in a two day airshow at Clifton airfield in June 1951 when it stalled at a height of twenty five feet when the pilot put the aircraft into a turn after a low-level pass of the crowd to demonstrate its manouverability. It dived into the ground on the airfield in front of the crowd seriously injuring the pilot. It was one of only two B2's surviving at the time and its pilot was a test pilot at the Brough factory.

It is now thought that now the only one in existance is owned by BAe at Brough.

Pilot - Mr H Radcliffe. Injured.
