Caudron GIII 3868 at Scarborough.
On 26th September 1915 this aircraft was force-landed near Scarborough aerodrome whilst on its
delivery flight from Hornsea. It had been involved in an accident previously on 4th July 1915 at Redcar when it
ran through a fence and was damaged. In both cases the aircraft was repaired and returned to service. It was
finally deleted on 20th December 1915.
Pilot - Name unknown.
Caudron 3868 was built by Aeroplanes Caudron at Lyon and purchased from France and was delivered to R.N.A.S. Redcar
during the first week of July 1915. It suffered a repairable accident here on 4th July 1915. It was later transferred to
R.N.A.S. Scarborough on 18th July 1915 then to R.N.A.S. Hornsea/Atwick on 26th July before being transferred back to
R.N.A.S. Scarborough on 26th September 1915 and suffered it's accident near Scarborough following a forced landing. It was
back in service at R.N.A.S. Hornsea on 26th October 1915 and was deleted from R.N.A.S. records on 20th December 1915.
