Slingsby Kadet at Sutton Bank.
On an unknown date, thought to be after April 1936, this glider was destroyed in a crash at Sutton Bank. A visiting pilot to the gliding club misjudged his altitude badly and turned downwind from the soaring slope. The glider struck the top of a wire fence which ran along the summit of the hill at the time. The wire scrapped along side the steel-shod ski and cut the rear fuselage horizontally in half. The pilot escaped with bruising.
Pilot - Name unknown. Slightly injured.
This specific glider was the prototype Slingsby Kadet, it was bought by the Yorkshire Gliding Club and was apparently frequently damaged
in mishaps, being of wooden construction it was repairable in a few days. The type could be refered to as "Type 7, Kirby Kadet" or "Cadet TX Mark I".
