Unidentified glider near Sutton Bank.

On 3rd September 1934 a glider was damaged as a result of a crash near the Sutton Bank gling site. After a catapult launch and a brief flight the glider lost height and flying speed and crashed 200 feet below the gliding club (the location of which is not exactly known). The pilot was pinned under the wing for sometime before being freed and taken to Thirsk Memorial Hospital with head and back injuries, though not too serious. He reportedly is quoted as saying "this is a bad show" when help arrived!

Pilot - Mr MacClement, of Cambridge. Injured.
