Unidentified Slingsby T.7 Cadet glider at Sutton Bank.

On 24th May 1938 the Yorkshire Gliding Club ran a gliding meeting at their Sutton Bank site. After being in the air for two hours the pilot of this glider found that he was well below the level of the gliding site. Being unable to reach the landing area above he attempted to land in a field but an area of woodland lay in his path before the field could be reached. Having lost height he attempted to fly roughly down a wide path within the woodland but eventually the glider struck and came to rest in a large tree.

The Yorkshire Gliding Club had the use of seven T.7 Cadets at the time, which one this was is not known.

Pilot - Mr Leach.
