On the 23rd of August 1943 the crew of this Halifax were landing at Thornaby when a tyre burst on landing, the aircraft swung off runway and crashed. Damage was put at Cat B/FA. No further details of the incident are known.

The aircraft was built to contract B982938/39 by English Electric Co. Ltd at Salmesbury and delivered to 78 Sqdn at Croft in April 1942. It was transferred to 502 Sqdn at St. Eval in January 1943 and then on an as yet unknown date 1 (c)OTU but almost certainly in August 1943. Following repair after the incident detailed above it was issed to 1674 HCU where it served until put into storage and struck off charge on 14th May 1945.
