Hart K5809, possibly somewhere in North Yorkshire.

On 8th January 1937 the pilot of this aircraft became lost on a navigation exercuse, he made a forced landing on soft ground and the aircraft overturned. The location not known but the assumption is made that it was in the range of flight from Thornaby.

Hart K5809 was built to contract 410420/35 by Vickers Ltd at Weybridge and delivered to 9 FTS on 13th March 1936. Following this incident Cat.R/FA damage was recorded and it is believed to have been repaired and returned to service with to 9 FTS. It suffered another Cat.R/FA accident on 3rd March 1939, again it was repaired and then allocated to 30 MU on 18th Decemeber 1940 but was damaged on 7th December 1940 whilst still on charge with 9 FTS. It was finally struck off charge on 20th December 1940.
