On 5th May 1918 this aircraft had been transferred to No.2 School of Special Fighting at Redcar and was being flown from
201/2 TDS at Cranwell up to Redcar when it suffered engine failure just prior to landing at Redcar. The pilot made a force
landing near Redcar in which the aircraft was damaged,

Airco B9478 was built by Westland Aircraft Works at Yeovil and delivered to AAP Hendon on 17th November 1917. It was
transferred to RNAS Cranwell on 1st December 1917, this unit became 201/2 TDS on 1st April 1918 in RAF control. It was
not repaired following this accident near Redcar.
