Caudron GIII 3871 near Redcar.

On 18th October 1916 this aircraft was force landed on farmland near Redcar for unknown reasons suffering minor damage. It was repaired on site and flown back to Redcar the following day.

Pilot - Name unknown.

Caudron 3871 was built by Aeroplanes Caudron and delivered to the UK where upon it was issued to RNAS Scarborough on 4th July 1915. It sustained damage there soon after on 14th August 1915 and was packed and returned to British Caudron at Hendon for repair and arrived back at Scarborough on 5th August 1915. It was then issued to RNAS Redcar Flying School on 19th August 1915 and served there for some time, after it's mishap in October 1916 it was again repaired and was finally deleted from stock on 31st January 1917, possibly as an obsolete aircraft by that date.
