On 3rd August 1916 this aircraft was damaged in a forced landing at Redcar and suffered slight damage.
Pilot - Flight Sub-Lt Alfred Thomas Osborne Mann RNAS, of Sydney, Australia.
Alfred Mann was born on 23rd November 1891 in Sydney, Australia and enlisted on 6th November 1915. He was killed in a flying accident in France on 29th November 1916 whilst serving with No.3 Wing, RNAS and is buried at Luxeuil-les-Bain Communal Cemetery, France. He was twenty six years old.
Avro 504 3306 was built by Brush EE Co Ltd of Loughbrough and was delievered to RNAS Redcar on 16th May 1916. It was repaired after suffering the incident detailed above and returned to service only to suffer another accident on 29th January 1917. It was initially deemed as repairable although this appears never to have been done as it was deleted from stock on 8th September 1917.
