This aircraft was built by Le Crotoy and delivered to RNAS Chingford's Flying School on the 25th of
June 1915. It was transferred to RNAS Flying School, Eastchurch on the 26th of November 1915 where it was damaged
with Cat R/FA damage on the 12th of January 1916. It was repaired and returned to service to be transferred up to
RNAS Redcar and the Flying School there on the 23rd of January 1916.
On the 14th of May 1916 the pilot of this aircraft was on a training flight when it crashed in a forced landing near Marske and
was reported to have been wrecked. Cat W/FA damage in the records confirm this. It was deleted from stock on the 4th of June 1916.

Born in Carlisle on the 15th November 1894, he learnt to fly in the USA before joining the
Royal Naval Air Service in January 1916. After serving with the Home Defence at Walmer, he was
posted to 10 Naval Squadron at Dunkirk on 2nd April 1917 but was reassigned to 3 Naval Squadron
five days later. Flying the Sopwith Camel
with B Flight, Chisam claimed seven victories with this squadron before he was wounded in the hand on 26th
March 1918. He reached the rank of F/Lt.
